Floating caliper disc brake, brake caliper body 2 is connected to axle 7 through guide pins 6 and can move axially relative to brake disc 1. The brake caliper body is only equipped with an oil cylinder on the inner side of the brake disc, while the outer brake block is attached to the caliper body. When braking, hydraulic oil enters the brake cylinder through the oil inlet port 5, pushing piston 4 and its friction block to move to the right and pressing it onto the brake disc, causing the cylinder and brake caliper body to move to the left along the pin as a whole, until the friction block on the right side of the brake disc also presses onto the brake disc to clamp the brake disc and brake it.
Contrary to fixed caliper disc brakes, floating caliper disc brakes have smaller axial and radial dimensions, and have fewer opportunities for brake fluid to vaporize when heated. In addition, when the floating caliper disc brake is used to simultaneously charge both the service and parking brakes, it is only necessary to install some mechanical transmission parts of the parking brake near the service brake caliper cylinder to push the cylinder piston. Since the 1970s, floating caliper disc brakes have gradually replaced fixed caliper disc brakes.
