The friction ring rotates with the brake drum, and the electromagnet is connected to the driving lever through a snap ring. At the beginning of braking, the controller sends a braking signal, and the electromagnet is energized to generate electromagnetic attraction, which is adsorbed on the friction ring. Due to the constraint of the electromagnet by the driving lever, it produces relative sliding with the friction ring, and the friction force acting on the electromagnet drives the driving lever connected to it to rotate around the pivot point. The driven end of the lever opens the two friction shoes of the brake and presses them against the brake drum, generating braking torque. At the end of braking, the electromagnet is powered off, and the suction and friction force disappear. Under the pulling force of the return spring, the friction shoe leaves the brake drum and releases the braking.
Electromagnetic brake is an ideal automatic execution component in modern industry, which mainly plays a role in transmitting power and controlling motion in mechanical transmission systems. It has the advantages of compact structure, simple operation, sensitive response, long service life, reliable use, and easy to achieve remote control.
It is mainly matched with series motors. Widely used in metallurgy, construction, chemical, food, machine tools, stages, elevators, ships, packaging and other machinery, as well as in situations such as emergency braking during power outages.
